Noah’s Ark Gold Coins
Many coin collectors are always looking for new collectible gold bullion coins to add to their collection, especially coins that were minted in countries that are perceived as exotic and that are therefore somewhat more difficult to obtain. The Noah’s Ark gold coins certainly fit that description as they are issued in low mintage numbers by the country of Armenia, a country in Western Asia that few people can locate on a map.
As their name already implies, the Noah’s Ark gold coins depict the famous biblical story that everyone knows. The ark of Noah is depicted on the reverse side of the coins in front of Mount Ararat with the rising sun in the background and a dove in flight that is holding an olive branch in its beak in the foreground. The obverse side of the coins depicts the coat of arms of the Republic of Armenia.
The coins are minted out of 99.99% pure gold by a private mint in Germany (the Leipziger Edelmetallverarbeitungs GmbH that is an affiliated company of the Geiger Edelmetalle GmbH) for the country of Armenia. They are available in the four denominations of 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz and 1 gram. Only proof coins were issued when the Noah’s Ark gold coins were minted for the very first time in 2017 and their mintage numbers were very low.
No coins were minted in 2018 and 2019, possibly because it took a while to sell all the coins that had been minted in 2017 for the high collectible premiums that are customary for limited mintage proof coins. However, the coins made a successful comeback in 2020 as brilliant uncirculated bullion coins. Since then, their annual mintage numbers have increased substantially. The reputable American precious metals dealer Apmex currently has all four denominations of the latest 2022 edition of these collectible gold coins available and you can find them listed on this webpage in their online catalog.
