The PAMP Suisse Mint is a private company that is world renowned for the quality and design of its products. PAMP stands for "Produits Artistiques Métaux Précieux" (artistic precious metal products) and the company refines and mints gold, silver, platinum and palladium. Its gold and silver bars (most of them decorated with beautiful designs) are especially popular with investors and are produced in a large variety of sizes. PAMP SA dominates the world's gold bar market for small gold bars (100 grams or less) with a market share of more than 50 percent. It also produces precious metal blanks for coins and medals that are used by many other mints and banking institutions and it provides the fine watch and jewelry industries with gold alloys for their production.

Minting Facilities

The PAMP Suisse Mint is located in Castel San Pietro (Swiss canton of Ticino) and has MKS (Switzerland) SA as its parent company. PAMP doesn't only produce finished bullion products for investors but also semi-finished precious metal products such as wires, plates, strips and rods.

Besides its minting facility and refinery in Switzerland, PAMP Suisse is invested in another facility in India as part of a joint venture (since 2008) with MMTC Limited, one of India's largest international trading companies. The MMTC-PAMP precious metals processing facility in India (refining & minting operations) is technically supervised by the parent company PAMP SA.

History

PAMP Suisse SA was founded in 1977. Its current parent company MKS (Switzerland) SA was founded two years later in 1979 by the successful Middle Eastern bullion trader Mahmoud S. Shakarchi. MKS has its headquarter in the Swiss city of Geneva whereas PAMP Suisse remains based in Castel San Pietro (Swiss canton of Ticino). MKS acquired PAMP Suisse in 1981.

What makes it special?

Besides the high quality and beautiful design of its products, PAMP Suisse is famous for a number of "firsts" in the precious metals industry. It was the first mint to decorate the reverse side of its precious metal bars, the first to sell its small bars in airtight packaging (CertiPAMP), the first to add hangers to some of its products (so that they could be worn as jewelry) and the industry pioneer in the production of precious metal bars with colored designs.

PAMP Suisse offers custom minting of commemorative coins and medals and it produces a wide range of highly collectible products (bars, coins and medals but also such products as pendants etc). Some of its products are made under license for famous brands and organizations such as UNESCO. PAMP Suisse also acts as an official distributor of bullion coins for respected mints such as the US Mint.

Accreditation

PAMP Suisse is accredited from the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA), the Dubai Multi Commodities Center (DMCC), the New York Commodities Exchange (COMEX), the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX), the Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM), the Chicago Precious Metals Exchange (CPME), the Shanghai Gold Exchange (SGE), the London Platinum and Palladium Market (LPPM) and the Swiss National Bank.

The PAMP Suisse refinery is accredited in Switzerland according to the ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 17025, OHSAS 18001 and SA 8000 production standards, the only refinery in Switzerland to achieve that distinction.
